The moon is believed to be a piece of Earth that was blown off by a Mars sized structure in Earth’s early period of formation. This is why the moon seems to be made out of rock that Earth has.

A lunar eclipse does not always have a blood moon in the night sky. Sometimes, during a lunar eclipse, the moon is not visible in the sky. This is because Earth’s shadow is completly covering the moon, thus it cannot be seen with the human eye.
